Happy Friday Tribe!Question- How do you eat an elephant?Answer-One bite at time.People come to me for a myriad of reasons. Some people want to lose weight. Others want to get fit. Almost everyone wants to feel better physically, mentally and emotionally.Sometimes taking the first step in your fitness journey is overwhelming. You’re constantly bombarded with fad diets and workouts on the internet or the TV. You’re inundated with friends and family telling you what you should do…or what new hip diet you should follow. It becomes so overwhelming that you feel like there’s an elephant in front of you. (and you have one fork!)I always tell my clients to “reset” and get back to the basics. Start eating that elephant one bite at a time. Sustainable small changes can result in major results. What can you eliminate or substitute in your diet that you won’t miss? Can you wake up 20 minutes earlier and get take a brisk walk? Instead of watching TV with your young kids, can you take them to a park? Almost all phones have an app where you can count your step. Can you increase it by 15%? Can you drink 1 soda a day instead of 3? What's the least painful change you can make this week? Here’s the scoop. Be proud of yourself if you’ve decided to make some lifestyle changes. Do them gradually. We’ve all (including me) have made the mistake of making too many big changes in our daily routine. Too many at once is unsustainable and will lead to failure. Making a small change every week won’t shock your body, and your mind will adjust much easier. After 2 months of small weekly changes, you’ll be you’re on your way to a healthier lifestyle. You’ll realize that elephant is getting smaller and you can start making more changes. If you’d like information about how to make sustainable lifestyle changes—I’m here to help!
